Port Isaac is jam packed with activities that will keep family members of all ages happy.
The beach is just metres from our door and provides an endless list of things to do: rock-pooling, kayaking and kiteflying are favourites of ours. If you want to try your hand at catching your own fish, boat trips run during the summer from the harbour.
If the weather isn't on your side then the fish cellars and aquariums are great for kids and located just down the road from us. For an afternoon stroll after a great lunch at The Harbour, there's a beautiful walk along the coastal path and around to Port Quinn and Port Gaverne which takes around 90 minutes.
Fans of the TV series Doc Martin will find plenty of sites represented in "Port Wenn" which will be familiar to you. See if you can spot the chemist, surgery, or even Doc Martin's home.
It wouldn't be possible to talk about things to do in Cornwall without mentioning surfing. Trebarwith Strand is nearby, while Polzealth with its surf schools and hire shops is perfect for learners and experienced surfers alike. 15 minutes drive along the coast, Pozealth beach is fringed with coffee shops and cafés for those not taking part. Keeping with watersports, head to Rock or Daymer Bay for sailing and waterskiing.
The Eden Project is great for all the family, while the capital city of Cornwall, Truro, is 45 minutes along the A30. Attractions such as The Lost Gardens of Heligan, The Tate Gallery, The National Maritime Museum and The Minack Theatre are also well worth a visit.
Closer to Port Isaac is Wadebridge where you can hire a bike to cycle the famous Camel Trail to Padstow, a favourite among food lovers. A little further along the coast is Tintagel, an ancient village steeped in Arthurian legend with the ruins of a dramatic cliff-top castle.
For evening entertainment, there is a good selection of pubs in Port Isaac, while from May, the St Breward Band play every Thursday with world famous Fishermans Friends performing every Friday evening.
